North Cottage is nestled within the beautiful Northumbrian village of Newbrough – 5 miles to the west of Hexham and a whisper away from the iconic Hadrian’s Wall. Whilst the cottage itself is of a good age, you will find a warm welcome and all the mod-cons you could wish for to make this lovely bolthole a proper home from home.

About the Space
On the ground floor the cosy living room complete with wood burner and sumptuous seating is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring our beautiful surroundings – or just somewhere to recharge the batteries after the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. The curved HD TV offers a range of channels to suit most tastes making this room the perfect combination of comfort and tranquillity for those looking to socialise and celebrate with family and friends.
As you leave the sitting room and go towards the kitchen you will find coat hanging space and access to the enclosed garden with BBQ and modern dining set – ideal for al fresco dining and maybe a spot of stargazing – we are a stone’s throw away from some of the best Dark Skies in Europe and even though we live here, we still find our skies truly mesmerising. You will find a pair of binoculars in the cottage which you are very welcome to use, and also a basic telescope upstairs.
In the garden there are also three stone storehouses – one is just a little shelter (the makings of a den?), one houses our various garden implements and the other acts as lockable bike/buggy storage.

If you would prefer to step away from the television and escape with a good book, the Snug is the perfect place to nip off to another world between the pages, maybe taking with you your tipple of choice. This versatile room offers focus and structure as a working space or provides a vibrant play space for children.
The chair in the Snug folds out to offer a small double bed giving another sleeping option. Our cottage is welcoming for families of all ages, as well as groups of friends.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms – the Master with Kingsize bed, the Day Room with single bed that can be converted to a Kingsize bed and then the third room which can sleep 2-3 depending on your requirements, just let us know and we can make the beds up however you would like. Each room has beautiful beams, wonky walls, stylish décor, plush linen and the most comfortable beds we found…..having tried more than a few!
The bathroom with shower, bath, WC and sink is modern and bright and provides a selection of complimentary toiletries from Bower Collective – a company in whose ethos we really believe plus we love the products!
Towels will be in each room upon arrival so really, all you need for your stay is ready and waiting for you.
Rural Kitchen Diner
Combining functionality & comfort
We have created a kitchen diner space to be enjoyed by all ages – friends and family catching up, children baking with grandparents or for those who wish to enjoy the slower pace and cook something more than the everyday staple tea.
The kitchen with double aspect windows,
seats 6 comfortably and we hope has everything you could
need for your stay. If you come across anything that hasn’t been supplied, please do get in touch. We also have a travel cot and highchair available to cater for the smaller members of your family.
If eating out or enjoying a takeaway is your thing, we are always delighted to recommend our favourite spots! The welcome book gives a variety of tasty suggestions, or you can ask us during your stay if you are searching for something specific.
The private garden is a special feature of our cottage. There is comfortable seating for 6, with a large parasol to enjoy the fresh outdoor air in a variety of weathers. The roped patio blends countryside bliss with charm and elegance to ensure your outdoor dining is as relaxing and cosy as possible. BBQ tools and charcoal are all supplied alongside blankets and cushions. The garden space is completely enclosed so children can play games on the lawn to their hearts content.
Although North Cottage is non-smoking throughout, we do understand if people want to enjoy a cigarette in the garden. All we ask is that you use the ashtray provided for all cigarette butts.

This cottage provides it all - Incredible countryside to completely relax, equipment to explore the great outdoors and endless extras to personalise the stay. The soothing colours inside the cottage really helped us unwind during our stay and the beds were so comfortable!
